Barcelona and its metropolitan area have been awarded the title of European Forest City 2022.

With this distinction, the European Forest Institute highlights the city’s management in relation to activities that promote conservation and the development of forest areas, as well as the research of a new urban model that develops nature-based solutions.

Within this framework, the city of Barcelona will encourage the participation of citizens in activities related to this year’s theme of reflection: Bioeconomy for Cities: How Circular Biocities can transform the way we live on the planet.
